Four Months

Just read a helpful link about introducing solids to breastfed infants. It's been on my mind lately and I think this time I'm going to try something different. I've always struggled to maintain a decent milk supply into the later months of my baby's first year and so I'm going to hold off on the solids for a bit. I'm going to try to feed him more often during the morning hours and wait until he's clearly reaching for our food to introduce any solids. For a number of reasons, this just feels right for me and for him.

On a side note, Clara Joy is beginning to recover from a horrible 24 hour stretch of vomiting and nausea on top of the chest cold that's been lingering for far too long. Can Spring come quickly enough? I'm praying that no one else gets it and that we can enjoy some blissful good health soon. In the meantime, we're hibernating with some redbox movies and plenty of clear liquids. Peace and health to you and yours.

He is adorable and resembles his siblings- a lot!
Sorry I never wrote back on the pumping issue, if I don't respond that second then craziness distracts me. :) I definitely fed Caroline more at the end than a book would have recommended because I felt like anytime I dropped my feedings to 4 or 5 then my milk would decrease. To answer your pumping question, I would do any extra one anytime I had a cold or was fighting something because I felt like my milk decreases then as well. It was usually after the morning feeding. I did that if we needed a bottle for anything as well, but she wouldn't take one anyway. I mostly pumped for production purposes and not to feed her a bottle, you know?
I sipped on mother's milk tea and took fenugreek a lot at the end (or if I was sick) and it worked well for me. I have a whole bottle still if you want it.
We might go to the park after getting Lizzie at school on Friday, maybe we could meet and play if you guys are all healthy.
Good decisions Karen, there are no absolutes in this great adventure we call parenting. It can look different for different babies.
Hoping for spring soon as well!
